Huawei has introduced a new colour variant of its flagship foldable smartphone in the UAE, launching the HUAWEI Mate X7 Purple Edition. The release targets consumers who want a premium foldable form factor alongside a distinctive design, while Huawei continues to position its latest generation around photography performance, display durability, and faster charging.

The Mate X7 Purple Edition is now available through Huawei’s official online store and select retail outlets in the UAE. Huawei has set the UAE price at AED 5,999. The company says customers who purchase the device during the launch period will also receive a complimentary HUAWEI WATCH 5.

What’s new with the Purple Edition

This UAE launch is focused on a new colourway rather than a wholesale redesign. Huawei frames the Purple Edition as an update to the appearance of its flagship foldable, describing a bold, refined finish intended to differentiate it within the Mate X7 lineup.

For buyers, the practical takeaway is that the Purple Edition is part of Huawei’s broader strategy of keeping its flagship foldable compelling between major hardware refresh cycles, using design variants while maintaining the same core product specifications.

Display, durability, and build details

Huawei’s Mate X7 uses a dual-screen foldable configuration, featuring a 6.49-inch LTPO outer display and an 8-inch inner display. For protection on the outer panel, Huawei cites Ultra Durable Armour Kunlun Glass. For the inner screen, the company references an industry-first 3-layer Composite Structure.

The phone is also built around hardware elements designed to improve everyday durability. Huawei points to an Advanced Precision Hinge and a reinforced aviation-grade aluminium frame. On ingress protection, the company states the device supports IP58 and IP59 protection, designed for exposure resistance in real-world use.

Imaging features remain a central selling point

Beyond design, Huawei is continuing to lead with imaging capabilities. Huawei says the Mate X7 includes a True-to-Colour Camera that improves light intake by 96%. The company also references “ultra-high dynamic” video processing aimed at producing clearer footage across varied lighting conditions.

In the same category, Huawei adds AI-based tools intended to simplify editing and help users manage common photo and group-shot issues. The press release highlights:

  • AI Remove to eliminate unwanted distractions from photos
  • AI Best Expression to improve how people appear in group shots

These features align with the wider market shift across premium smartphones, where computational photography and on-device editing increasingly influence purchase decisions, not just camera hardware.

Battery and charging options for daily use

Huawei also specifies a 5,600mAh Silicon-Carbon battery. For charging, the company lists support for 66W wired charging and 50W wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge, positioning the device for different usage scenarios, including productivity and travel.

In the UAE market, where consumer demand spans both business connectivity and media creation, the availability of both wired and wireless fast charging can matter for day-to-day convenience, particularly for devices that consumers may treat as replacements for tablets or cameras.

Pricing and availability in the UAE

Huawei says the HUAWEI Mate X7 Purple Edition is available in the UAE via Huawei’s official online store and selected retail stores, priced at AED 5,999. The company also offers a HUAWEI WATCH 5 gift with purchase.

Why colour variants matter in foldable phones

Foldable smartphones are still a premium, often niche segment compared with mainstream candy-bar devices. As a result, manufacturers typically compete on a combination of hardware durability, display quality, and software experience, while also seeking additional differentiators that feel meaningful to buyers.

Colour editions are one way brands can create fresh appeal without changing the underlying platform. For consumers, the decision often comes down to whether the variant provides a clear personal preference, while Huawei’s claims in this release emphasize that the Mate X7’s core strengths remain centered on imaging performance, AI photo assistance, and protective build features.

For now, the UAE launch expands the Mate X7 options available to shoppers, offering a new look at the same flagship foldable experience.
