Eight Sleep said it has introduced Menopause Mode, a new setting for its Pod sleep system designed to support women from perimenopause through postmenopause. The company described the feature as part of what it calls its expansion in women’s health, aiming to address sleep disruptions it associates with temperature regulation during menopause.
According to Eight Sleep, the Pod fits over an existing mattress and can warm or cool each side of the bed. The system also tracks sleep without requiring a wearable device, with Menopause Mode framed as a change to how the Pod behaves at night.
How Menopause Mode works
Eight Sleep said Menopause Mode is available in the Eight Sleep app and is intended to respond to changing nighttime needs. The company described three main functions for the experience.
- Tailored cooling: The Pod, Eight Sleep said, lowers the temperature on each side ahead of hours when hot flashes are most common, and it learns preferred settings over time.
- On-demand cooling: The company said users can trigger immediate cooling from a button on the side of the bed, with a user-selectable duration and automatic return to normal temperature.
- Menopause-specific insights: Eight Sleep said members can view how their sleep compares with other women at similar stages, and that the app can surface patterns based on logged symptoms and treatment changes.
Company claims on data and reported effects
Eight Sleep attributed its approach to internal and research-backed analysis. The company said it built Menopause Mode from more than 57,000 nights of sleep data collected from 450 peri- and postmenopausal women.
In its release, Eight Sleep also cited outcomes from a study of peri- and postmenopausal women, claiming that participants reported 56% fewer nighttime hot flashes on average in a week with Pod temperature control on versus off. The company further said 85% reported fewer hot flashes during that period.
Eight Sleep also referenced a claim about response time for its on-demand tool, saying that 8 in 10 women reported relief within 10 minutes of using it.
Context within its broader Women’s Sleep Initiative
Eight Sleep said Menopause Mode follows the launch of Pregnancy Mode earlier this year. The company connected the new feature to its Women’s Sleep Initiative, which it said has analyzed more than 3 million hours of women’s sleep to study how changing physiology affects sleep.
In addition, Eight Sleep referenced a study of 1,884 women that it said found approximately 5°F differences in preferred bed temperatures across hormonal life stages. The company also cited differences in reported weekly sleep duration across stages, including a claim that postmenopausal women averaged more than 1.5 hours less sleep per week than premenopausal women.
Availability
Eight Sleep said Menopause Mode will begin rolling out globally on October 29 to all subscribed Eight Sleep members through its iOS and Android app. The company said the feature requires an active Autopilot membership and an Eight Sleep Pod, with both available for purchase through its website.
Eight Sleep positioned the launch as bringing its research into the bedroom through temperature adjustments and app-based personalization, and said the company aims to deepen scientific understanding of menopausal sleep as more members use the feature.
